LIVE-IN VOLUNTEERS REQUIREMENTS Minimum of 19 years of age Good physical and emotional health Ability to live with and support adults with developmental disabilities LENGTH OF STAY Minimum of six months, preferably one year *We also welcome volunteers with Camphill experience, for the summer months, for six weeks or more. RESPONSIBILITIES Live in a home with other volunteers and adults with special needs Help to manage households, help to care for the emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of the individuals whom you assist and with whom you live Assist one another in one of our many workplaces (farm, garden, estate, bakery, candle shop, weavery, household, bookbindery, etc.) Participate in planning festival celebrations and cultural offerings BENEFITS • Your own Bedroom and Board • Allowance for Incidental Expenses • Medical Insurance • Education, Training and Support for the duration of your volunteership • Student loan support available • Three weeks of personal time for a one year commitment, in addition to free time, which is arranged within each individual house *Dental and vision coverage are not offered for the first year of service. |
HOUSE & WORKPLACE LEADERS REQUIREMENTS Minimum of 21 years of age Good physical and emotional health Ability to live with and support adults with developmental disabilities Prior training in Social Therapy Prior Camphill experience Experience as a House Leader LENGTH OF STAY Three to five years. RESPONSIBILITIES Expected to fully participate in Village life and to lead households and/or workplaces. Generally take on many roles in Village life, perhaps in addition to managing a household of volunteers, adults with special needs, and their own children Create a healthy home environment May have some administrative or organizational responsibility, serve on various committees, run a workplace, or be responsible for work crews working in the home Can be involved in specific areas of interest such as developing and running a workplace (land or craft), and have an active role in the cultural life of the Village. Join us for a meaningful and joyful experience furthering the most important work of Camphill Village. As a day volunteer you will participate in our community of adults with developmental differences and make an impact in their lives, as well as your own! Is the Day Volunteer Program Right for Me? That depends. Do you want to improve the lives of adults with developmental differences? Develop lasting friendships? Maybe you’re interested in learning about biodynamic agriculture, or maybe you’re not sure what suits you. Day volunteers have the benefit of being able to choose from an array of workplaces with different activities, like seeding in our greenhouses, helping with livestock, and maintaining flower beds. Some examples of our volunteering opportunities: Livestock Agriculture handmilking dairy cows, preparing fencing, loading hay bales, sweeping barns, herding sheep Healing Plant Garden seeding in the greenhouse, planting, caring for plant beds, harvesting Vegetable Garden seeding, watering plants, weeding, harvesting for the garden market Running Errands (gas reimbursement included) Do you think you might like to teach a class or have a special skill that can contribute to our Village?
